Dana Doherty Menlove is a graduate of the Nosara Yoga Institute in Costa Rica where she studied with Brahmanand and Amba Stapleton. Drawing upon the wisdom of various lineages of classical yogic tradition, her teaching honors the multi-dimensionality of human nature and emphasizes consciousness. Dana is a lifelong student of mindfulness meditation and her teachings and way of being are deeply informed and guided by her intensive ongoing study with Jon Kabat-Zinn, PhD.
Dana’s intention as a yoga guide in group classes and in private sessions is to hold a space for others to feel safe and supported in their practice, leading to the eventual deep work of conscious self-transformation. Attentive to the uniqueness of each individual, Dana seeks to provide inspiration and a sacred space for a creative, vigorous, joyful, and deeply gratifying experience of yoga.
In creating workshops, classes and offering private guidance, Dana is inspired by her experience as a life-long student of the natural world and the myriad ways natural cycles inform our existence. Her experience as a wilderness guide and university degrees in the humanities lend an eye for seeing the ways art and nature interplay and the ways these relationships are relevant to our experience of yoga. Dana holds a specialized certification in Mindfulness for Children and Teens as well as Yoga for Children and Teens.
Dana believes yoga and mindfulness practice can remind us who we are and gently help us let go of who we are not, especially if we are willing to laugh along the way.
